Getting Started with Childcare Subsidy

Welcome, Parents! If you’re applying for childcare financial assistance in Texas, you’re in the right place. This guide will walk you through the steps to apply for a subsidy through Parent Central, and what happens if you’re approved, including how to enter attendance in KinderSign/KinderSmart and how to access KinderConnect.

Step 1: Create Your Account in Parent Central

To begin the application process:

  1. Go to Parent Central.
  2. Click Create an Account and follow the instructions.
    • Click HERE for account creation help.
  3. Once your account is created, log in.

Step 2: Complete the TXC3 Eligibility Screener & Waitlist Application

After logging in:

  1. Navigate to your Parent Central dashboard.
  2. Fill out the TXC3 Eligibility Screener & Waitlist Application.
    • Click HERE for help filling out the application.
  3. Once submitted, you’ll receive a confirmation email.

Step 3: Submit the Standard Application (IF ELIGIBLE)

If the board determines you are initially eligible, you’ll receive an invitation link to complete the Standard Application. For information on filling out the Standard Application, click HERE.

Important: If you have NOT received this invitation email, you must wait. Questions regarding your application status should be directed do your caseworker.

After submission, you’ll get an email notifying you whether your application is approved or denied. Please note that we do not have access to a processing timeline and are unable to provide when you will receive an approval or denial notice.

Step 4: If Approved: Access KinderConnect and Begin Attendance Tracking

If your subsidy is approved and you are the Primary Parent, you will gain access to KinderConnect.

Registering for KinderSign and/or KinderSmart

Before you can enter attendance, you must first register KinderSign (tablet based app) or KinderSmart (mobile based app).

Entering Attendance in KinderSign and/or KinderSmart

It is important to begin entering attendance daily using KinderSign (tablet based app) or KinderSmart (mobile based app). For information on entering attendance, click on the panels to watch the quick videos below.
